Fight.
The trick is not to settle. But to fight. Continually. Hold fast. All the more so, as we see the Day approaching.
“Today is my day.”
“Force the moment.”
Victory is coming, and so already is. Lay hold of it. Fight.
Thoughts…
I’ve got em. Perhaps too many. Perhaps not enough. Maybe I spend more time thinking about things that I shouldn’t be. Maybe I spend less time thinking about things worth thinking of. Maybe I stress, over-thinking, by my thoughts somehow adding to something that isn’t there. I can’t stop thinking, then I’m dead. I don’t want that.
Direction. Ways. Guide. Statutes. Laws. Testimonies. Commandments. Precepts. Promise. Words. Made flesh. Life. Inside.
I set my mind on things above, where Christ is. My life is hidden.
Eyes fixed. Heart longing. Here I am.
John Piper punches you in the face…
“Not to enjoy God is to dishonor Him. To say that something else satisfies you more is the opposite of worship.”
-Desiring God
That’s just from the introduction…
Ouch.
Give me some more of that!
elections and the elect
Tomorrow is election day. And we, as a nation, will cast our vote as to who we believe is the best candidate to lead us. Our votes will set a man in place as President of the United States. I want to write a reminder that as we cast our vote (which importantly we should, while encouraging others to do so), that we should remember that regardless of whatever canditate comes out on top, that there is a higher citizenship to which we belong…
While men jostle for position and votes, seeking to set themselves, there is a person whose position is set. His name is Jesus. Though the kings of the earth set themselves (Psalm 2:2), the Lord says, “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” It is God’s son, Jesus, who will literally and very realistically rule and govern the entire earth. All of the nations will be his heritage and the ends of the earth will be his possession. We must keep this at the forefront of our mind as we cast our ballot tomorrow. We must remind ourselves that it is His kingdom we must consider ourselves citizens of. This is our hope, and why no election should sway the security of our hearts.
Remember as you vote, that you are already in the best kingdom there is. And try your hardest to believe that it’s real, and that the King of this Kingdom is actually going to take over, and reign. Submit to Him and his kingdom first. Then cast your vote as best it fits with that kingdom.
“Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” Psalm 2:10-12
blessed.
I feel blessed. Namely, because I am.
I’m getting off this ghetto blaster for a few days. Escaping, as much as exploration will allow, the digital world.
“Forget you, digital world. Though I cannot hold you in my hands, I will let you slip from my fingers.”
“There is more that is not to be seen or held that is much more worth my grasping and clinging to. That which I will seek. And I will do so with all my heart and strength and might.”
“Until I return, you will not be missed. Eat it.”
Holy Spirit, here I come. After you.
commit your way
Have you ever written something to come back and speak to you a few years down the road? I wrote this a few years ago and rediscovered it recently…
“Commit your way to the Lord for He is the way, the truth, the light. He is the only one who can bring about righteousness and justice in the earth. For it is who he is, and so He acts. No man can do it, for man is powerless to defeat the enemies of righteousness and justice. As a man thinketh in His heart, so He is. It is because of this truth that we must look to Him. For their is none righteous, no not one. We have all fallen short. In all the strength of man, death remains. What man is crying from his grave that he brought all wrong things to an end? What man from the grave is boasting in his accomplishments? What man in the grave is boasting in his defeat of it? There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. There are bones in the ground, there is dust in the air that proclaim the plight of man. They tell of sadness, sorrow, death. But there is a man whose bones did not lay still. There is a man whose breath was brought again. There is a man who befriended the grave for a moment to demonstrate his power against it. There is a man who took death in his mouth, tasted and swallowed. There is a man who through death, destroyed it.”
Amen.
